House, Richard, Ansley O.S.

Richard House was born on October 8, 1885. He was an Ordinary Seaman on the U.S.S. Bennington. He was one of 66 crew members killed in one of the Navy’s worst peacetime disasters, when the U.S.S. Bennington boiler exploded on July 21, 1905.

Richard’s remains were temporarily interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, California. Subsequently his remains were moved to the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado and buried on August 16, 1905 in plot Block 00060 000092 – 0000SW.
