Joseph Newcombe, boatswain’s mate second-class; drowned. He was born in 1875, Boston, Mass. Has an aunt, Mrs. E. Barnicoat, No. 22 Franklin street, Quincy, Mass…..

Joseph Newcombe was one of 66 crew members killed in one of the Navy’s worst peacetime disasters, when the U.S.S. Bennington boiler exploded on July 21, 1905.
